Distill & Refine

Finding Your Vision

When I first met Kristen, I could tell the wedding planning process was feeling a bit overwhelming to her. She had a sense of what she wanted, but was struggling to figure out how to communicate her vision. Sound familiar? So many couples struggle with this! One of my favorite skills I have developed over the years is the ability to help a client sort through the noise and distill all of the ideas swirling in their mind into a clear and refined wedding day vision. I asked Kristen about her impressions at the beginning of our time working together- this is what she shared:

“My experience working with Paisley Petals was wonderful from beginning to end. I am not very familiar with wedding florals, but I learned a lot about the process. I’m so appreciative of all the behind the scenes work Paula and her crew put into my wedding to make it so wonderful. My first meeting with Paula, I honestly didn’t have a detailed vision of what I wanted for my wedding. However, she was easy to talk to and work with from the get-go. She helped me visualize and come up with a framework for my wedding on the first visit and came up with a wonderful, well thought through, detailed proposal. I did look at a couple of vendors within a similar price point, but just kept coming back to the proposal from Paisley Petals. Paula was able to capture the variety in color and texture that I desired (but didn’t know how to articulate very well) and had great ideas for centerpieces. She was also willing to work with me to find an exact floral plan that fit both my needs and budget. Communication was easy, and the process of signing a contract very simple.”

Wedding Planning Advice

Stay True to Yourselves

One of my best pieces of advice to my couples is to be true to themselves. There are so many choices to make in the planning process. The only way to truly love your wedding is to make choices that are reflective of who you are. Your personalities, values, taste and style should come through in every aspect of your wedding day. I asked Kristen to share some advice for other couples…

“It can be hard to do, but think about what is important to YOU and your spouse for your wedding day and keep them the priority, as opposed to what everyone else says it “should” be like. Stay true to yourself and start early. Be willing to spend a bit more on things that are important to you, and you can scale back on other things.” I couldn’t agree more.

Meaningful & Memorable

Kristen’s Favorite Moments

It’s important to remember to slow down and soak in all the special moments of the wedding day you’ve worked so hard to plan. I asked Kristen to share a few highlights with us:

1)  Getting into my dress and receiving my bouquet! I felt so good all put together. I couldn’t stop looking at my bouquet and was just amazed at how beautiful it was. Such a piece of art. I wanted to keep it forever.
2) Our first look is high up there as well. It was so special and exciting to surprise Josh and see his reaction to me in my wedding dress.
3) Speeches were a highlight as well. I felt so loved surrounded by our family and closest friends.
4) The first dance as a couple was also a favorite. We are definitely not dancers and did not take any lessons or do anything special. However, I just felt so happy, holding my husband close and basking in the moment.

Kind Words

A Testimonial

“It was a pleasure working with Paisley Petals! So glad I made the choice to work with you and your team. Initially I had been somewhat “skimpy” and trying to just do whatever was cheapest, with very little insight into the floral industry. I am so glad I went with my gut and hired Paula and her team — she is so talented but also kind and easy to work with. Spending just a little more than I had initially planned was absolutely worth it.”
