New Year, New Vibe
Shifting Gears
Summer reached out to me in September of 2020 to schedule a consultation for her September 2021 wedding. We wrote up a proposal and got her date locked in. But a lot can happen in a year, and the images she was finding herself most drawn to didn’t quite fit with our original plan. I remember when she told me she wanted to use really dark/black flowers and have an almost but not quite spooky vibe. She seemed a little nervous, like she was unsure whether I would be on board. But I was so excited! I love it when a client chooses to follow their own taste and style, even if it’s a little off the beaten path. Weddings don’t have to be light and airy to be beautiful! Summer shared with me that the smile on my face when she described what she wanted made all of her anxiety vanish!
Our Only Goal
Feel-Good Floral Design
From Summer: “The day of my wedding, Paula was first on scene with her amazing staff! My bouquet was jaw-dropping, like the type of bouquet you see on every magazine cover. She even surprised me and got the specific flower I really wanted that was out of season. My wedding was so special, but I feel like Paula’s touch on all of our floral decor made that night purely magical. She has that “it” factor, and I feel so lucky to have had her to sprinkle her magic at my wedding!”
From Paula: Summer is one of those clients who makes me wish couples could get married over and over again. She knew what she wanted, and at the same time, she trusted me completely. She had followed my work for awhile and knew she wanted me on her team. That always feels really good as a creative. She was so appreciative of everything my team and I did to bring her vision to life. Definitely one of those clients who is hard to say goodbye to. Hey Summer- maybe a vow renewal someday?!
Big Design, Big Impact
Prioritizing Installations
There’s no way around it: flowers are expensive. Like I always tell my clients, fresh flowers are a luxury item and especially with custom design, they are priced accordingly. If your budget and vision aren’t lining up, think about your priorities. Summer chose to invest in having floral installations both for her ceremony and hanging over her head table. She also decided to forego lush centerpieces on each table. The impact of those large pieces in her photos is undeniable. They make the perfect frame for both the ceremony and the reception that brings the whole look together. These pieces are so special- you might see a floral centerpiece at a birthday party or baby shower, but you’re not likely to see a huge triangle arbor or a giant hanging floral installation. Installations like this help mark the significance of this moment in your lives. And they’re one of our favorite things to design! My team and I are so grateful to have been part of this day- it was truly one of the highlights of our season!
